Prabowo Escorted by F-16 Fighter Jets Upon Arrival in Jordan

Jakarta (ANTARA) – President Prabowo Subianto was escorted by F-16 fighter jets belonging to the Royal Jordanian Air Force before landing in Jordan on Tuesday (24 February) at 8 pm local time. In a statement from the Presidential Media Team in Jakarta on Wednesday, this reception is a symbol of friendship and high respect between the two countries. After landing at Marka Military Airport, Amman, Prabowo was greeted by the Crown Prince of Jordan, Al Hussein bin Abdullah II, and a guard of honour. Also present were the Indonesian Ambassador to Jordan, Ade Padmo Sarwono, and the Indonesian Defence Attaché to Jordan, Colonel Dafris D. Syahruddin. The welcoming ceremony was warm and solemn, reflecting the commitment of both countries to further strengthen strategic cooperation in various fields, such as education, defence, agriculture, and issues related to the Middle East region. Accompanying Prabowo on this official state visit were Foreign Minister Sugiono, Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Bahlil Lahadalia, and Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya. From the airport, President Prabowo went directly to the hotel where he would be staying in Amman. The following day, President Prabowo is scheduled to meet with the King of Jordan, King Abdullah II ibn Al Hussein. President Prabowo Subianto is scheduled to hold a bilateral meeting with the King of Jordan, King Abdullah II ibn Al-Hussein, at the Al Husseiniya Palace, Amman, Jordan, on Wednesday afternoon local time. The bilateral meeting with the King of Jordan today will be the main agenda of President Prabowo’s visit to Amman from 24–25 February 2026. This will also be the second meeting between President Prabowo and the King of Jordan, following his first state visit to Amman, Jordan, in mid-April 2025. For today’s meeting, President Prabowo and the King of Jordan are likely to follow up on several discussions regarding bilateral cooperation in strategic areas, and discuss several issues related to global geopolitical dynamics, especially regarding the stages of recovery in Gaza, Palestine, given that Indonesia and Jordan are currently both members of the Gaza Board of Peace. The two countries, along with other countries with a majority Muslim population such as the United Arab Emirates, Pakistan, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and Egypt, are members of the Board of Peace, which aims, among other things, to achieve a permanent ceasefire in Gaza, create peace, and support the independence of the Palestinian people.
