Prabowo entrusts leadership baton to young civil servants
President Prabowo Subianto has emphasised that young civil servants are the generation that will take up the baton of government leadership and determine the success of Indonesia’s development in the future. He made the statement during his address at the inauguration of the Young Civil Servants of the 33rd Cohort of the Institute of Public Administration (IPDN) in 2026 at the IPDN Campus in Jatinangor, Sumedang Regency, West Java, on Wednesday.
“We are here working and serving to pave the way for all of you. You are our children whom we are preparing to safeguard this Republic after we are gone,” President Prabowo said. The President stressed that the young civil servants must prepare themselves to become the best leaders capable of moving the government bureaucracy and ensuring every development programme is implemented effectively.
He reminded them that the success of various government ideas, plans, and policies depends heavily on proper implementation in the field. The Head of State also cautioned that Indonesia’s vast potential makes it a target for various foreign interests, making national unity imperative. “Divide et impera, divide and conquer. That is their law, that is their science. Divide and conquer between tribes, divide and conquer between religions, divide and conquer between races, divide and conquer between groups,” President Prabowo stated.
He further conveyed that the grand ambition of making Indonesia an advanced, modern, and independent nation that brings prosperity to all its people is drawing closer to reality. He noted that various global projections place Indonesia as one of the largest economic powers in the coming decades. “That great ambition is on the threshold of reality. All world experts predict that in 25 years, Indonesia will be the fourth-largest economy in the world, above France, Germany, and the United Kingdom,” he said. The President reminded the graduates that development success can only be achieved through collaboration between institutions and all elements of the nation, urging them to be humble leaders who build cooperation with all stakeholders and uphold a spirit of mutual respect and support.
