Prabowo Ensures Compensation for Victims of Train Accident in East Bekasi
BEKASI, KOMPAS.com — President of the Republic of Indonesia Prabowo Subianto has ensured that all injured victims from the collision between the Long-Distance Train (KAJJ) Argo Bromo Anggrek and the KRL Commuter Line, who are being treated at RSUD dr. Chasbullah Abdulmadjid in Bekasi City, have received medical care, with treatment costs covered by the state.
Prabowo conveyed this after directly inspecting the victims’ conditions in the treatment room at RSUD Bekasi City on Tuesday morning (28/4/2026).
“Some have already been discharged. If I’m not mistaken, there are still around a total of 54, and almost all of them that I saw have been handled well. Some have been sent home, some have been taken care of. Anyway, everything has been sorted out,” Prabowo told reporters at the location on Tuesday.
Prabowo guaranteed that all victims do not need to bear hospital costs and will receive compensation.
“Yes, there will be everything, there will be compensation,” said Prabowo.
Meanwhile, the Director of RSUD dr. Chasbullah Abdulmadjid in Bekasi City, Ellya Niken Prastiwi, revealed that some victims have been allowed to go home and will undergo outpatient treatment.
“Currently, there are around 54 victims at RSUD Chasbullah Abdulmadjid, and 15 people were discharged this morning because they can continue with outpatient care. Then, those who require inpatient treatment for further management, including some who need surgery and observation, number around 17 and have been placed in the Bougenville Ward,” explained Niken.
Meanwhile, the remaining patients are still at the Emergency Installation (IGD) to continue the series of medical processes and surgeries.
Regarding the severity of the victims’ injuries, Niken stated that the patients’ conditions vary, from fractures to bruises. However, all patients being treated are confirmed to be conscious.
“The types are varied, there are several fractures (broken bones) that have been scheduled for surgery but are awaiting further specialist examinations. Then there are some with bruises in several areas, and alhamdulillah, none of ours are being treated unconscious,” she said.
She also confirmed that all victims have been successfully identified and are accompanied by their respective families.
However, she could not yet disclose the exact number of victims with minor and severe injuries as the data collection process is ongoing.
RSUD Bekasi City has also set up two posts: an information post together with Polda Metro Jaya established in the area in front of the hospital to serve the victims’ families, and a medical service post at the IGD for handling victims.
As for the three victims declared deceased at RSUD Bekasi City, Niken confirmed that all bodies have been handed over to the families.
“At RSUD Chasbullah Abdulmadjid in Bekasi City, there were three people who died, and all have been collected by their families, and one has been taken to Java,” Niken concluded.
