Prabowo emphasises that leaders must be intelligent and not easily deceived
Jakarta (ANTARA) - President Prabowo Subianto has emphasised that Indonesian leaders must be intelligent and possess broad knowledge to effectively face various challenges and avoid being deceived.
“Broadly knowledgeable. Correct. Indonesian leaders must be smart. Do not be deceived by others. Do not be made fools of,” said Prabowo during his speech at the thanksgiving reception for the 100th anniversary of Pondok Pesantren Darussalam Gontor, Ponorogo, East Java, on Saturday.
As monitored via a live broadcast on the Presidential Secretariat’s YouTube channel, Prabowo conveyed this while outlining the values he believes are essential for the Indonesian generation to possess.
The President stated that the Indonesian generation must also have the courage to recognise their own shortcomings and weaknesses.
According to him, having knowledge alone is insufficient; one must also be able to perceive issues correctly.
“I am surprised, sometimes professors, yet they cannot see injustice. Professors who instead defend the interests of foreigners,” said Prabulate.
In addition to being broadly knowledgeable, Prabowo stated that the Indonesian generation also needs to possess free thinking.
“Think freely. Do not allow yourselves to be brainwashed by those who have no good intentions towards us,” he said.
The President also reminded the audience of the importance of having a great spirit and not feeling inferior when facing challenges.
“Do not have an inferiority complex. Do not have a sense of defeat before even fighting,” Prabowo remarked.
On this occasion, Prabowo also linked the ‘Panca Jiwa Gontor’ values to the struggle of building the Indonesian nation. These five values include sincerity, simplicity, self-reliance, Islamic brotherhood (Ukhuwah Islamiyah), and freedom.
Prabowo stated that these values align with the struggle of the Indonesian people, including the desire for Indonesia to stand on its own two feet.
The 100th-anniversary commemoration of Pondok Pesantren Darussalam Gontor was also marked by the inauguration of the Modern Pondok Meeting Hall and the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Darussalam Gontor by President Prabowo.
During the event, Prabowo was accompanied by several officials, including Foreign Minister Sugiono, Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi, Minister of Religious Affairs Nasaruddin Umar, and Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Technology Brian Yuliarto.
Also present were the Minister of Hajj and Umrah Mochamad Irfan Yusuf, Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya, National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo, and Governor of Bank Indonesia Destry Damayanti.
