Jakarta (ANTARA) - President Prabowo Subianto emphasised the importance of Indonesia and Japan’s roles in safeguarding global stability amid increasingly complex geopolitical dynamics.

He conveyed this during a bilateral meeting with Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi at the Akasaka Palace in Tokyo, Japan, on Tuesday. This meeting formed a key part of the Head of State’s official visit to Japan.

“In the midst of the world’s highly complex geopolitical dynamics, Indonesia and Japan must be part of the stability and solutions,” said Prabowo.

In his opening remarks, Prabowo affirmed that Indonesia and Japan are close friends and long-term strategic partners who have built relations based on trust and mutual respect for shared interests.

Prabowo expressed his belief that this bilateral meeting would produce concrete steps that can be promptly followed up to strengthen relations between the two countries, particularly in various strategic sectors.

“I am confident that this meeting and my visit here will result in concrete steps that can be immediately followed up to solidify relations between Japan and Indonesia,” the President stated.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Takaichi expressed appreciation for the progress in cooperation between Japan and Indonesia, especially in the fields of economy and security.

She also reaffirmed Japan’s commitment to further strengthening the partnership with Indonesia.

Furthermore, Prime Minister Takaichi expressed her hope to jointly strengthen and prosper the Indo-Pacific region through closer cooperation between the two countries.

This meeting not only strengthens bilateral relations but also sends a strong message to the world that Indonesia and Japan are ready to play strategic roles as anchors of stability and prosperity in the Indo-Pacific region.
