Prabowo Emphasises Strengthening of the Judiciary to Protect State Assets
Jakarta (ANTARA) - President Prabowo Subianto has emphasised the government’s commitment to strengthening judicial institutions alongside firm steps in law enforcement to protect state assets and guarantee the people’s welfare.
“If we can control the state’s wealth, there will be sufficient funds to improve all aspects of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia,” stated President Prabowo in his speech at the Handover of Administrative Fines and Forest Land Area event at the Attorney General’s Office, Jakarta, on Wednesday.
The Head of State emphasised that these firm steps to protect state assets are fundamental to ensuring the livelihood of all Indonesians.
According to him, public welfare cannot be achieved if the management and utilisation of state assets do not provide maximum benefits for national interests.
“This is a matter of ‘survival’. 287 million Indonesians cannot live well or prosperously if their wealth is taken every day, every week, every month,” he said.
Nevertheless, the President emphasised that these achievements represent only a small portion of the state’s potential wealth that must be saved.
“The struggle is still difficult; there are still hundreds of trillions, even thousands of trillions that we must save. There will be many questions from various parties about whether it is possible. The answer is not whether it is possible; the answer is that it must be possible,” he asserted.
Therefore, the Head of State emphasised that the state will continue to be present through firm and consistent law enforcement.
According to him, such steps form the foundation for national revival and strengthening the nation.
Integrity in Justice
On this occasion, the President also highlighted the strengthening of the judicial sector as one of the government’s efforts to build an integrity-based justice system.
The President stated that improving judges’ welfare is a strategic step to ensure judicial independence, as well as a form of respect for the role of judicial institutions.
“I believe and am convinced that issues of corruption and injustice must be resolved in the judiciary. Therefore, we must respect our judges, select them well, and provide them with sufficient income so that our judges cannot be bribed,” he said.
Furthermore, Prabowo emphasised that all judicial personnel should maintain integrity and ensure real justice for society.
“We must make our judiciary a place where the people receive justice. And I convey this message to the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court and to all judges,” the President revealed.
“Judges, remember, your decisions will be judged by the people. They will be studied by our society, and our people are no longer ignorant. They will see and feel the injustice,” he added.
