Prabowo emphasises Russia as an important partner for Indonesia

Jakarta (ANTARA) - President Prabowo Subianto has emphasised that Russia remains one of Indonesia’s important partners, a relationship that continues to be strengthened through enhanced cooperation across various sectors.

This was stated by President Prabowo while attending a luncheon hosted by Russian President Vladimir Putin on the sidelines of the 11th Eastern Economic Forum (EEF) in Vladivostok, Russia, as monitored via live broadcast from the Presidential Secretariat in Jakarta on Thursday.

“For Indonesia, Russia is a very important partner. Therefore, we are proud and pleased that our relationship can improve,” said President Prabowo.

President Prabowo noted that Indonesia is also proud to participate in this economic forum. According to him, the EEF holds great potential to serve as a bridge for strengthening cooperation and connectivity within the region.

“This economic forum has great potential to become a bridge for cooperation and connectivity in our region,” he remarked.

According to President Prabowo, both Indonesia and Russia are Pacific nations, making regional cooperation, including connectivity and the maritime sector, a priority.

President Prabowo reaffirmed that Indonesia will continue its efforts to increase cooperation with Russia across various fields to generate mutual benefits for both nations.

He mentioned that bilateral relations between Indonesia and Russia in several areas continue to show improvement, including the economic and trade sectors.

“In several aspects, our relationship continues to grow. As His Excellency has stated, in the fields of economy and trade, we are increasing. Our cooperation in various other fields is also making significant progress,” said Prabowo.

Prabowo’s presence in Vladivostok continues Indonesia’s active participation in Russia’s economic forums. Previously, Prabowo also attended as an honoured guest at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF) in 2025.
