Prabowo Emphasises Law as Primary Instrument to Safeguard National Wealth
Jakarta (ANTARA) - President Prabowo Subianto emphasised that law is the primary instrument for safeguarding the nation’s and state’s wealth as a prerequisite for realising public welfare, while also serving as a crucial tool in reclaiming forest areas and salvaging state finances.
“Law is the instrument to safeguard the nation’s and state’s wealth. Without the nation’s and state’s wealth, our people cannot live prosperously,” said President Prabowo in his speech at the handover event for administrative fines and state financial recovery, as well as the sixth phase of reclaiming forest areas, at the Attorney General’s Office Building in Jakarta on Friday.
The President assessed that law enforcement is an important foundation to ensure that state wealth is managed optimally and utilised for the broad interests of society.
On that occasion, the Head of State highlighted various ongoing violations that harm the state, ranging from corruption, smuggling, illegal mining, to abuse of authority.
The President reaffirmed his commitment to not discriminating in prosecuting lawbreakers to protect state assets.
“I will use all authority and power granted by the 1945 Constitution to the President of the Republic of Indonesia to enforce the law without favouritism,” he asserted.
In that regard, the President instructed law enforcement apparatus as well as related ministries and institutions to strengthen coordination in eradicating various forms of violations that harm state finances.
Prabowo reminded that safeguarding state wealth is a form of service by the apparatus to the people, while highlighting the practice of plundering the nation’s wealth that has gone on for too long.
“Working in government is a sacrifice and service. The nation’s and people’s wealth has been robbed for too long,” said the President.
The President called on all elements of the nation to uphold values of honesty, justice, and strengthen the spirit of nationalism as the foundation of national development. He acknowledged that firm steps in defending the people’s rights will certainly face challenges.
“The firmer we are, the more steadfast we are, the more we defend the people, the more we will be opposed, the more we will be attacked,” said the President.
Previously, the Forest Area Regulation Task Force (Satgas PKH) officially handed over funds amounting to Rp11.4 trillion to the state treasury as a result of collecting administrative fines, tax receipts, and state financial recovery from corruption crimes in the early 2026 period.
This symbolic handover of assets was carried out by the Attorney General to the Minister of Finance, witnessed directly by President Prabowo Subianto at the Attorney General’s Office Building.
The funds cover various state revenue instruments, from forestry sector fines, environmental sector, to tax deposits from corporations involved in forest area regulation.
Since starting operations in February 2025, Satgas PKH has recorded significant achievements with total state asset recovery reaching Rp371.1 trillion.
