Prabowo emphasises importance of integrity and accountability in MBG programme
President Prabowo Subianto has emphasised the importance of integrity and accountability in the implementation of the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) programme to ensure that this government priority achieves its objectives and remains free from irregularities.
“I do not want the people’s money to be stolen. I do not want the people’s money to be stolen. And there are no exceptions,” said Prabowo while attending the ‘Building Indonesia’s Future Generations Through Nutrition’ event at the Sentul International Convention Centre (SICC), Bogor Regency, on Wednesday.
The President asserted that the government is committed to ensuring the success of the MBG programme by ensuring there is no abuse of authority or misappropriation during its execution. According to Prabowo, the decision to replace several parties involved in the programme’s implementation was made after receiving reports regarding deficiencies, irregularities, and suspected deviations in the field.
“If at any time you find yourself confused or hesitant, remember, always side with your people,” Prabowo remarked, recalling a message from his father.
The President noted that the quality of leadership is a crucial factor in the success of an organisation, including the execution of the MBG programme. “A good leader makes a good organisation. A bad leader makes a bad organisation. Especially if the leader is dishonest, incompetent, or lacks integrity,” said Prabowo.
He mentioned that graduates of the SPPI have been prepared to lead and manage the programme’s implementation, instilled with values of service to the nation and state. “We have educated you, recruited you, trained you, and instilled values of patriotism and devotion to the nation and state, and you have been tasked to lead and manage these kitchens,” the President said.
“This is a noble task. And it must succeed. You are a vital part of this. If you do not work well and do not remain loyal, please step aside. The interests of the people are above all other interests,” concluded Prabowo.
