President Prabowo Subianto has asserted that education is the primary key to achieving public welfare across all sectors of life. The President emphasised that human resource development must be carried out comprehensively through the enhancement of education quality and training for all levels of society.

“Education can make the people prosperous in all fields. Education and training for farmers, training for teachers, for nurses—we must improve education and training in all sectors,” stated President Prabowo while inspecting the Sekolah Rakyat Menengah Pertama (SRMP) 17 Tabanan in Bali on Sunday, 7 June 2026.

The Head of State explained that the effort to improve the quality of education and training is a massive undertaking that requires adequate resource support. Consequently, the government is committed to managing the nation’s wealth responsibly to ensure it is utilised to the greatest extent for the benefit of the people.

Prabowo also expressed his satisfaction with the development of the Sekolah Rakyat programme, which is seen as providing new hope for communities in need of access to quality education. However, the President acknowledged that the demand for such programmes remains very high.

“I am happy to see the progress of the Sekolah Rakyat. Certainly, the task remains very large because there are many people in need of these schools,” said Prabowo.

The President requested that the development of Sekolah Rakyat be accelerated and expanded to various regions. To this end, Prabowo encouraged local governments, as well as relevant ministries and agencies, to collaborate in finding creative solutions to increase educational service capacity, including the optimal use of underutilised state facilities while awaiting the construction of permanent schools.

The government aims to develop Sekolah Rakyat throughout Indonesia as part of its commitment to expanding educational access for those in need. Through this programme, the government hopes that more Indonesian children will have equal opportunities to obtain a quality education and improve their families’ standard of living in the future.

Through the Sekolah Rakyat programme, the government intends to ensure that economic limitations no longer act as a barrier for Indonesian children to achieve a better future. According to President Prabowo, education is not merely a learning process in a classroom, but rather the nation’s greatest investment to produce a superior generation capable of leading Indonesia towards progress, independence, and equitable prosperity for all citizens.
