Prabowo Drives Downstream Acceleration and SOE Restructuring in Hambalang Meeting
President Prabowo Subianto received the Minister of Investment and Downstreaming/Head of the Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) and CEO of Danantara, Rosan Roeslani, alongside the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, Bahlil Lahadalia, and officials from Danantara at his residence in Hambalang, Bogor Regency, West Java, on Friday, 4 September 2026.
In a written statement, Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya noted that accelerating downstreaming was one of the primary agendas discussed during the meeting. The acceleration of downstreaming is viewed as a strategic step to increase the added value of natural resources domestically, strengthen investment, and create greater economic benefits for Indonesia.
In addition to downstreaming, the President received progress reports regarding his instructions concerning the restructuring and streamlining of State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs). To date, 2ability 290 SOEs have been closed, a move reported to have generated state budget savings of up to Rp50 trillion.
The consolidation process is set to continue, with a target of closing at least 700 more SOEs by the end of December 2026 as part of an effort to simplify the structure of state-owned companies. Through this SOE restructuring, budget efficiencies of up to Rp100 trillion are projected.
President Prabowo emphasised that the restructuring of SOEs must be carried out in a measured and comprehensive manner. This initiative is directed towards ensuring that state companies possess a more efficient, healthy, and professional structure, capable of providing an optimal contribution to the national economy.
“The President emphasised the importance of conducting SOE restructuring in a measured and comprehensive manner to create a state company structure that is more efficient, healthy, professional, and capable of providing an optimal contribution to the national economy,” stated the Cabinet Secretary.
The meeting was also attended by the Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Danantara, Dony Oskaria, the Minister of State Secretary, Prasetyo Hadi, and the Cabinet Secretary, Teddy Indra Wijaya.
