Prabowo: Don't Feel Inferior, Many Countries Are Learning MBG from Us
JAKARTA - Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto has asked the Indonesian people not to feel inferior or lack confidence compared to other countries.
This is because he claims that many other countries are learning from Indonesia’s Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) programme.
“We must not become a nation that feels inferior. Always feeling inferior, always thinking foreign nations are superior. Many countries are now learning MBG from us. Many are learning MBG from us,” said Prabowo in Cilacap, Central Java, on Wednesday (29/4/2026), quoted from the Presidential Secretariat’s YouTube.
“Where in the world is there a country that can feed more than 60 million people, right, five times a week? Pregnant mothers have meals delivered to them, elderly and disabled people have meals delivered. Show me, which country? Maybe China, but we know China took off long before us,” stated Prabowo.
Prabowo also mentioned the Merah Putih Cooperatives programme, in which the government will soon inaugurate 25,000 Merah Putih Cooperatives.
The Gerindra Party chairman said that these cooperatives are not just on paper but have warehouses, cold storage or refrigeration, outlets, vehicles, and even dryers.
Prabowo described the success of the Merah Putih Cooperatives as the first in history.
“Try looking it up in history, I ask you to look it up in history. Look it up in world history, has there ever been 25,000 or 30,000 cooperatives built and completed in one year?” he said.
