Prabowo Distributes 1,098 Premium Cows to 552 Regions, Details Outlined

President Prabowo Subianto has distributed 1,098 premium sacrificial cows across 552 regions nationwide, including targeted distribution to pesantrens and social institutions.

Deputy Minister of the State Secretariat, Juri Ardiantoro, explained that the distribution covers 38 provinces and 514 regencies/cities. Of the total, 598 cows were handed over to local governments, while the remaining 500 were channelled through educational institutions, religious organisations, and community leaders.

A key point this year was the strict weight standard set by the presidential palace: sacrificial cows must weigh between 800kg and 1.3 tonnes. However, a unique situation arose as 46 regions lacked cattle meeting this specification, resulting in some areas receiving two cows instead.

“All presidential sacrificial cows must weigh between 800kg and 1.3 tonnes, with each region allocated one. However, 46 regions had no cattle of this size, so they received two cows instead,” Ardiantoro stated in Jakarta on Tuesday (26 May).

The following premium breeds were selected: Juri Ardiantoro confirmed all cattle underwent rigorous health verification. “Each cow has a veterinary health certificate, is over two years old, male, and free from defects in accordance with Islamic law,” he stressed at the Presidential Complex on Tuesday (26 May 2026).

Ardiantoro added that using 100% local-sourced cattle aims to boost national livestock industry productivity. Beyond religious observance, the initiative serves as an economic stimulus for farmers in remote areas.

“The President hopes the sacrificial meat will be fully utilised by those in need, particularly through pesantrens and social institutions directly engaging with grassroots communities,” he said.

President Prabowo Subianto also distributed 10 sacrificial cows weighing over 800kg to Papua for Eid al-Adha 1447 H, sourced from local Papua farmers.
