Prabowo discusses workers and the role of higher education at Hambalang meeting
Jakarta (ANTARA) - President of the Republic of Indonesia Prabowo Subianto chaired a limited meeting (ratas) with members of the Red and White Cabinet in Hambalang, Bogor, West Java, on Saturday (2/5), which specifically highlighted labour protection and the optimisation of the role of higher education institutions.
Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya stated on the official Instagram account of the secretariat.kabinet, as quoted in Jakarta on Sunday, that the meeting, which took place from afternoon to evening, discussed various strategic issues to deliver policies that protect, educate, and prosper all layers of Indonesian society.
In the discussion on labour issues, President Prabowo placed significant emphasis on conveying aspirations from various workers’ unions across Indonesia. These aspirations are an important point, as the government has issued several policies favourable to workers when attending the International Labour Day commemoration on Friday (1/5) at the National Monument in Jakarta.
The government specifically prioritises the role of engineering faculties in higher education institutions in the regions to enable them to participate directly in development in their areas.
Several high-ranking officials attended to accompany the President in the limited meeting, including Defence Minister Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin, TNI Commander General Agus Subiyanto, National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo, and Deputy TNI Commander General TNI Tandyo Budi Revita. TNI branch leaders were also present, namely Army Chief of Staff General TNI Maruli Simanjuntak and Navy Chief of Staff Admiral TNI Muhammad Ali.
In addition, the meeting was attended by Head of the State Intelligence Agency (BIN) M Herindra, Foreign Minister Sugiono, Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Technology (Mendiktisaintek) Brian Yuliarto, and State Secretary Minister (Mensesneg) Prasetyo Hadi.
Also present were Head of the Government Communication Agency Muhammad Qodari, Deputy Minister of Communication and Digital (Wamenkomdigi) Angga Raka Prabowo, Cabinet Secretary (Seskab) Teddy Indra Wijaya, up to President Director of PT Pindad Sigit Puji Santosa.
