President Prabowo Subianto spoke extensively regarding the Pancasila economy while serving as the Inspector of Ceremony for the Birth of Pancasila at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Central Jakarta on Monday (1/6/2026). Prabowo asserted that Indonesia must now harbour bolder ambitions, moving beyond simple continuous development.

“We do not only want to talk about development. We now have bolder ambitions. We are currently, and will continue to, implement a national transformation strategy. Our strategy is essentially a transformation towards a direction aligned with Pancasila,” stated Prabowo. He suggested that no nation would feel pity for Indonesia if its people faced hardship and hunger.

Consequently, he argued, Indonesia must earnestly implement Pancasila across the political, legal, social, cultural, and economic sectors. Prabowo emphasised the fundamental principles of the Pancasila economy that need to be applied in Indonesia, noting that such an economy must aim for the prosperity of the people. He maintained that growth should not merely produce statistical figures on paper.

“Brothers and sisters, what is the meaning of an economy based on Pancasila? Economic development must not only produce statistical numbers. Economic development must produce a better life for all Indonesian people. Our children, the weakest, poorest, and most vulnerable, must receive adequate nutrition,” he added.

The Head of State emphasised that the Pancasila economy is religious, humane, and strengthens national unity. He expressed his belief that natural wealth is not merely an economic commodity, but a divine trust that must be managed responsibly for the greatest prosperity of the people and for the future of coming generations.

“Our farmers must receive fertiliser on time and at the correct price. Our fishermen must have fair market access and must be assisted and empowered. Our fishermen are vital protein producers, ensuring our people can become a strong nation,” he said. Similarly, he noted that workers must obtain decent livelihoods and incomes, stating, “The fate of our workers must be protected and assisted.”

Prabowo emphasised that the Pancasila economy must side with national and public interests. He argued that the economy must not only benefit a small group of people, noting that for too long, the prices of natural resources have been determined by other nations.
