Prabowo Discusses KPK Reporting Subordinate's Case: 'If You Have Evidence, Go Ahead'

President Prabowo Subiandum has revealed that one of the reasons for removing cabinet members is the need for accountability regarding mistakes. He shared an instance where the Corruption Erradication Commission (KPK) approached him prior to taking action against one of his subordinates.

“So, if there is a reshuffle in the future, I believe it will be, among other things, for promotions; we always seek the right man in the right place, focusing on competence. And if someone is perhaps not suitable for that position, we must be able to replace them with the right person. Or if they themselves have problems, well, we cannot avoid that,” said Prabowo during the ‘Prabowo Menjawab’ programme on Wednesday (16/09/2026).

Prabowo stated that KPK investigators had previously met with him to inform him of a case involving a specific official. He noted that he had no authority to halt the legal process.

“It was as if I didn’t know; suddenly the KPK came to me and said, ‘Sir, this is…’, you know. ‘This official did this, that, and that’. So, what could I do? We are not permitted to halt it,” he said.

Prabowo admitted that he encouraged the KPK to take action against his subordinates if legal evidence was found. He referenced the specific case involving one of his Deputy Ministers.

“‘You have evidence? If there is evidence, please go ahead,’ I said. And then it happened. There was my Deputy Minister; well, that is his responsibility,” Prabowo continued.
