Prabowo Discusses Gaza Peace with King Abdullah II
Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto explained the importance of a two-state solution to create peace in Gaza, Palestine. This was revealed during a bilateral meeting with the King of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, King Abdullah II ibn Al Hussein, at the Basman Palace, Amman, Wednesday (25/2/2026).
In the introduction to the meeting, Prabowo reaffirmed his commitment to promoting a peaceful solution to the conflict in Palestine. According to him, the two-state solution is the only way out for long-term peace.
“Yes, Indonesia is committed to doing whatever we can for a lasting solution. And in our opinion, the only lasting peaceful solution is a two-state solution with an independent Palestine,” said Prabowo.
Prabowo also explained that Indonesia’s decision to join the Board of Peace, and its support for the 20-point plan initiated by US President Donald Trump, were based on the desire to promote the achievement of a permanent peace in the region.
“And that is why when we were invited to join the Peace Board, and we supported President Trump’s 20-point plan, it was all done with the view and effort to do whatever we can to achieve that lasting solution,” he said.
For this reason, on that occasion, Prabowo also expressed his gratitude for Jordan’s support for the Indonesian contingent and emphasised the importance of close coordination between the two countries. He also said that Jordan is the country that is geographically and politically closest to the Gaza issue.
In addition to Gaza, Prabowo also highlighted the situation in the West Bank, which he believes has the potential to affect various successes of whatever we try to do in Gaza.
In the future, the head of state also hopes that the two countries can continue to monitor developments and strengthen strategic cooperation. He also stated Indonesia’s readiness to support various efforts made by Jordan in maintaining stability.
“So we want to strengthen and enhance this cooperation, and I think my team will work closely with your team, so that we always monitor the situation, we know exactly what will happen. But thank you very much, we also want to support Jordan in your efforts,” said Prabowo.
Prabowo expressed his appreciation for the warm welcome given by the Jordanian government. He also said that his personal relationship with King Abdullah II has been established for decades.
