Prabowo Discusses Energy-Saving Proposals with Ministers
President Prabowo Subianto discussed national energy-saving proposals with his ministers. This step was taken to anticipate turbulence in the global energy market amid the war between the United States and Israel against Iran.
Coordinating Minister for the Economy Airlangga Hartarto stated that the topic arose during a coordination meeting on follow-up to President Prabowo Subianto’s directives regarding several economic policies. “In this meeting, various strategic steps were discussed,” said Airlangga in his statement on Sunday, 29 March 2026.
Several topics discussed, according to Airlangga, included the concept of implementing adaptive work-from-home, more targeted budget efficiency, and strengthening B50 biodiesel policies. “Up to the national energy-saving proposal,” said the former Golkar Party chairman.
Airlangga said that all energy-saving concepts are being comprehensively reviewed, taking into account developments in the Middle East conflict and global uncertainties. “Which impact energy stability, supply chains, and the national economy,” he stated.
The government, according to Airlangga, is committed to ensuring that every policy is implemented in a measured and responsive manner. He stated that these policies are necessary to maintain stability, strengthen national resilience, and drive economic growth.
President Prabowo held a virtual meeting with his ministers on Saturday, 28 March 2026. Cabinet Secretary Lieutenant Colonel Teddy Indra Wijaya said the meeting was to discuss economic policies.
“On Saturday afternoon until evening, 28 March 2026, President Prabowo Subianto held a limited meeting,” said Teddy in a caption on the Instagram account @sekretariat.kabinet.
Teddy said that around 15 of Prabowo’s ministers attended the meeting held via video conference. Those present included Coordinating Minister for the Economy Airlangga Hartarto, Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture Pratikno, and Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa.
Teddy stated that Prabowo’s meeting with his aides was to determine adjustments and decisions on several economic and energy policies.
The government is currently preparing several policy schemes to anticipate the impact of the global crisis. This is because the war raging in West Asia since late February has caused world oil prices to surge and supplies to tighten.
