President Prabowo Subianto has opened the option for a large-scale cabinet reshuffle as he enters the second year of his leadership alongside Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka.

Prabowo shared this during a dialogue with senior journalists and experts at Padepokan Garuda Yaksa, Hambalang, Bogor Regency, West Java, on Sunday (6/9/2026).

In his presentation, the Head of State explained that evaluations of the Red and White Cabinet’s performance are conducted continuously. “And up to now, objectively, I must say that my team is working well,” said Prabowo.

Nevertheless, Prabowo informed the members of the Red and White Cabinet that the government must first focus on fundamental issues. “As is known, for me, the most fundamental thing is that I must secure food security. Achieving food self-sufficiency. After that, we must secure fuel supplies to a reasonable extent, at least not as severe as in many other countries, which is due to our anticipatory measures and so on,” Prabowo stated.

“We will implement B50 from palm oil and so on, and later move towards large-scale solar energy. Then, we must certainly address the outflow of capital abroad that has occurred for decades. This is what we must secure,” continued the Chairman of the Gerindra Party.

Secondly, Prabowo continued, the government must immediately address child hunger, which leads to stunting, as well as absolute poverty or extreme poverty. Following this, the focus should be on budget efficiency to prevent leakages and on investing in sectors that can generate foreign exchange and employment.

“So, at this moment, there are several ministries that are, so to speak, not on the front lines. However, they understand and are working through their own initiatives,” said Prabowo.

“Therefore, if there is a reshuffle later, I think it might include promotions. Certainly, in this organisation, we must always seek the right man in the right place,” the former Minister of Defence added.

Prabowo then emphasised the importance of competence and the suitability of individuals within ministries and agencies. “We must be able to replace people who are not correct, or if they themselves have issues; we cannot avoid that, can we?” he remarked.

When asked whether the two-year mark of his administration would be the appropriate momentum for a cabinet overhaul, Prabowo replied, “I think it is something logical, isn’t it? Two years. So, everyone has had time to prove their capabilities and so forth.”
