Prabowo: Disaster Response in Aceh and NTT Was Swift, We Are Serious

President Prabowo Subianto has assured that the government moved quickly in handling disasters that occurred in several regions of Indonesia, including Aceh and East Nusa Tenggara (NTT), even as the country faces various trials, obstacles and hindrances.

Prabowo conveyed this in his speech while attending a government agenda on Tuesday (25/8/2026). According to him, disaster management in Aceh was carried out swiftly, even surpassing the expectations of many parties. The government did the same in responding to the disaster in NTT.

“I convey this on this occasion because even though we face trials, even though we face obstacles and hindrances, we are strong. We are capable. We continue to prove it,” said Prabowo.

“We resolved the disaster in Aceh within a timeframe that many parties would not have thought possible. In NTT our reaction was very fast, very massive. Everywhere our state is present,” he added.

Prabowo said that as President holding the mandate, he will continue to mobilise the strength of the state to face various challenges. He emphasised that the strength of the state essentially derives from all the nation’s assets and wealth, which must be managed optimally and responsibly.

“And I, as President holding the mandate from the people, continue to gather the strength of the state. The essence of this state strength is that all the nation’s assets, all the nation’s wealth must be managed as well as possible, as honestly as possible, on the basis of patriotism, love of the homeland, love of the people, and a very great sense of responsibility,” said Prabowo.

To that end, Prabowo affirmed his commitment to eradicating corruption and closing various leaks in state financial management, as part of the management of state assets.

According to him, misappropriation and corruption must be fought so that state resources can be used to the greatest extent possible for the people’s interests, even though many parties are sceptical or dismissive.

“Therefore misappropriation and corruption must be fought, must be eradicated to the roots. We must have that determination, even though many parties are always dismissive and view that we are not serious. We are serious,” he said.

According to him, anti-corruption efforts have proven to increase the government’s ability to provide various resources for disaster management, including hundreds of helicopters and heavy equipment.

“How can we now overcome problems, how can we have hundreds of helicopters, how can we procure heavy equipment if we do not have money? Where does that money come from? That money comes from what we have saved from the corruption that has been ongoing. We have stopped those leaks,” he explained.

Nevertheless, Prabowo believes the government must not be complacent. He asked for state financial management to continue to be improved so that the state’s capacity to face various challenges grows stronger.

“We are not satisfied. We must be even more rigorous in managing all finances,” Prabowo concluded.
