Prabowo Disappointed Over Misuse of Seed Budget
President Prabowo Subianto admitted to feeling saddened by allegations of the misuse of the agricultural seed procurement budget, which should be utilised to improve the quality of national food production.
In a speech during the handover of state financial recovery results at the Attorney General’s Office in Jakarta on Wednesday, the President stated that the government has allocated a significant budget to ensure that farmers receive superior seeds.
However, based on monitoring conducted together with Agriculture Minister Andi Amran Sulaiman, indications were found of the use of low-quality seeds.
President Prabowo assessed that such actions are not merely administrative violations, but moral issues that directly impact the welfare of farmers and national food security.
According to him, the use of low-quality seeds will reduce harvest yields, making it difficult to achieve the government’s goal of improving the welfare of the agricultural community.
He emphasised that the government will not hesitate to take firm steps to enforce discipline and ensure that state funds are truly used for their intended purposes.
“So indeed, in such conditions, if we want to uphold the truth, sometimes we must be firm, firm in enforcing discipline,” stressed President Prabowo.
