President Prabowo Subianto has requested that all parties take steps to address the conflict situation in Western Asia or the Middle East. Prabowo has called on various parties to implement fuel savings measures.

This was conveyed by Prabowo whilst chairing a Full Cabinet Session (SKP) at the State Palace, Jakarta, on Friday (13 March 2026).

“We are facing developments occurring globally in the European and Middle Eastern regions, and this certainly has an impact on us because it will affect fuel prices. Fuel prices can also affect food prices,” Prabowo said.

Prabowo stated that the government has prepared several steps to address the effects of the Middle East conflict. However, he requested fuel conservation efforts at present.

“We are grateful that we have secured the fundamental issue of food security. As for fuel, we actually already have plans for this, which we will accelerate. But of course, we must also take proactive measures now. In other words, we must implement fuel consumption savings,” he said.

Prabowo emphasised that the government cannot ensure security without taking proactive measures. According to him, adaptive steps to address the conflict situation have been undertaken by numerous countries.

“We cannot assume that whatever happens we are safe. Yes, we are grateful we are safe, but we have no effort to reduce our fuel consumption. Many countries have already taken such measures,” he said.
