The Cabinet Secretariat has stated that President Prabowo Subianto has instructed Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Bahlil Lahadalia to address three main current issues. These include handling power outages, stabilising fuel prices, and implementing downstreaming programmes. The directives were given after President Prabowo met with Minister Bahlil at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta on Tuesday.

In a post on the Cabinet Secretariat’s official Instagram account, President Prabowo instructed the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, together with state electricity company PT PLN, to accelerate the handling of power outages still occurring in several regions, particularly in Kalimantan. Minister Bahlil confirmed that the outages were caused by network maintenance, not by a shortage of energy supply.

Regarding fuel prices, President Prabowo directed that the selling price of subsidised fuels, such as Pertalite (RON 90) currently priced at Rp 10,000 per litre and subsidised diesel at Rp 6,800 per litre, be maintained. Meanwhile, any adjustments to non-subsidised fuel prices will consider developments in global crude oil prices. Additionally, Prabowo asked Bahlil to ensure that all national companies receiving extensions of their Coal Mining Concession Work Agreements (PKP2B) and converting them into Special Mining Business Permits (IUPK) fulfil their commitments to carry out downstreaming in accordance with applicable regulations.
