Prabowo Devout in Paris: Eid al-Adha Prayer and Diaspora Greetings

President Prabowo Subianto performed Eid al-Adha prayers in Paris, France, during his official visit. The Eid al-Adha prayers were held at Wisma Indonesia, the Indonesian Embassy in Paris, on Wednesday (27 May 2026) local time. As seen in a video from the Presidential Secretariat’s YouTube channel, Prabowo wore a white shirt, peci, and black trousers for the prayer. He stood in the front row alongside Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya. In photos from the Presidential Secretariat, Prabowo’s gaze was directed towards the prostration position after the initial takbir. His hands were clasped at his chest. ‘We are not commanded to sacrifice our children like Prophet Ibrahim AS, but to sacrifice our egos in obedience to Allah SWT,’ said Fakhruddin. After the prayer and sermon, Prabowo greeted Indonesian diaspora members at the embassy. He also conversed with one of the attendees while patting their shoulder. Besides President Prabowo and Didit, Minister of Investment and Downstreaming Rosan Roeslani and Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya were present during the gathering. Diaspora members formed a queue to greet the Head of State. Not only adults, but many children also queued to shake hands with President Prabowo. ‘It’s very special, especially being in France and meeting the President. It’s such an honour,’ said Zeahita, an International Relations student at Brawijaya University, according to a written statement. Prabowo arrived in the capital of Emmanuel Macron’s France on Tuesday (26 May 2026), marking his fourth visit to the country.
