Jakarta (ANTARA) - President of the Republic of Indonesia Prabowo Subianto has designated the waste processing programme as a national priority to control waste across all regions of Indonesia, with the aim of resolving the waste problem within the next three years.

“We will develop everything; waste processing is now a national priority. In two to three years, we must control waste throughout Indonesia,” said President Prabowo Subianto after visiting the Environment and Education-Based Integrated Waste Processing Site (TPST BLE) in Banyumas on Tuesday.

The Head of State expressed being very impressed with the Banyumas Regency Government’s initiative in managing domestic waste. He assessed that the TPST BLE in Banyumas is an excellent breakthrough to be emulated.

The central government is committed to promoting the success of this model so that it can be quickly implemented in other regions. The President emphasised that direct assistance will be provided to develop and improve the system to make it more effective.

The TPST BLE facility in Wlahar Wetan Village has a processing capacity of up to 75 tonnes per day with automatic sorting technology. The existence of this local technology is considered an efficient and affordable solution that can be applied on a large scale in the country.

The President hopes that the development of this technology can accelerate independent environmental problem handling. The national focus on waste processing is also intended to improve the quality of life and public health throughout Indonesia.
