Prabowo Demands Thorough Investigation into Terror Against Andrie Yunus, Mentions Independent Team and NGOs
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - The case of the acid attack on Andrie Yunus, Deputy Coordinator of the Commission for the Disappeared and Victims of Violence (Kontras), has received direct attention from the President of the Republic of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto.
President Prabowo has urged that the terror case be thoroughly investigated, including those who instructed the perpetrators.
“Of course, this is terrorism, right? A barbaric act, we must pursue it, we must investigate it, who ordered it, who paid,” said Prabowo during a discussion with several journalists and experts in a broadcast aired on Thursday (19/3/2026), quoted from Kompas TV.
The Head of State emphasised that there must be no impunity in the terror case against Andrie Yunus.
Prabowo also stated he is open to the formation of an investigation team for the acid attack case that befell Andrie.
“We can consider it, as long as it’s independent. Not all NGOs that are already prejudiced against the government and receive money from abroad, right,” he said.
He also stressed that the involvement of law enforcement officials as perpetrators must be firmly dealt with.
“Of course (they must be firmly dealt with if there are rogue law enforcement officials involved,” said Prabowo.
According to him, no Indonesian citizen should be subjected to terror.
“Believe me, I was elected by the people to defend the people, but we must be vigilant, I demand a proper investigation, down to the actors,” he stated.
Regarding this matter, he has fully handed over the legal process to the National Police Chief, General Listyo Sigit Prabowo.
In addition, he also requested that other law enforcement agencies work to resolve this case.
“I am a realistic and fair person, in terms of capacity, let them work, but not only the Police, many other institutions must also work,” he said.
