Prabowo demands integrity from 1,177 newly sworn officers
Speaking at the 2026 commissioning ceremony at the Merdeka Palace, Prabowo emphasized that the primary duty of the Indonesian Military (TNI) and the National Police (Polri) is to serve and protect the public.
“Integrity is an officer’s honor. Never abuse your authority. Never be tempted by corruption or misconduct,” Prabowo told the graduates. “Never compromise with drugs, gambling, or any other violation of the law.”
The President reminded the new officers—comprising 512 from the Army, 229 from the Navy, 154 from the Air Force, and 282 from the Police—that their roles are funded directly by Indonesian citizens.
“Always remember that you come from the people and were educated with the people’s money. The uniform you wear… belongs to the people. Your salary comes from the people,” Prabowo stated, adding that the public expects officers to be honest, fair, and present when needed.
The address followed the official oath-taking ceremony at the palace grounds, where the President formally inducted the academy graduates into the officer ranks.
