Prabowo Demands Comprehensive Evaluation of National Civil Service Design and Structure
Jakarta — President Prabowo Subianto has ordered his administration to conduct a comprehensive evaluation of the design and structure of the national civil service.
This directive was followed up with a coordination meeting on staffing for President Prabowo Subianto’s priority programmes at the Ministry of Defence on Tuesday, 17 March 2026.
“This is a follow-up meeting from several days ago when we also held an inter-ministerial meeting in accordance with instructions from our President. Everyone has been asked to conduct a comprehensive evaluation of our civil service design and structure,” said State Secretary Minister Prasetyo Hadi at the Defence Ministry on Tuesday.
The scope of the evaluation includes the distribution and composition of educational and medical personnel, including in disadvantaged, frontier, and outermost regions (3T).
According to Health Minister Budi Gunadi Sadikin, approximately 4,000 of Indonesia’s 10,000 Community Health Centres (Puskesmas) still lack medical personnel, including general practitioners and dentists.
“Then there are the fields or subjects that we must produce. That responsibility falls to the Elementary and Secondary Education Minister,” said Prasetyo.
“The Ministry of Defence, as one of the ministries with quite numerous and widely dispersed educational facilities, will help carry out education and training programmes. That is why we held this meeting at the Ministry of Defence,” he added.
Currently, recruitment of civil servants for 2026 is still being discussed further.
“It has not yet been decided; we are still finalising and formulating it,” he emphasised.
