Prabowo Delivers Message for Lunar New Year Festival 2577 Celebration: Great Nations Do Not Fear Difference

President Prabowo Subianto has extended his best wishes for the Lunar New Year 2577/2026, describing the celebration as not merely a religious observance but a moment for national spirit, brotherhood, and unity.

He conveyed this message through a video address at the Peak National Lunar New Year Harmony Festival held at Banteng Field in Central Jakarta on Saturday, 28 February 2026. Prabowo did not attend the event in person.

“This celebration does not merely showcase tradition and culture. This celebration affirms the values of mutual cooperation, solidarity, and human values,” Prabowo stated via video.

Prabowo emphasised that the 2026 Lunar New Year Festival seeks to demonstrate that Indonesia has been built not by a single ethnic group or single faction, but by all the nation’s children.

He further touched upon the fact that the Lunar New Year celebration coincides with the month of Ramadan. He characterised Indonesia as a great nation that does not fear difference.

“This is the true face of Indonesia. Different but harmonious, diverse but united in purpose. My fellow citizens, Indonesia is a great nation. A great nation does not fear difference. A great nation actually nurtures difference as strength,” he said.

Prabowo added that the 2026 Lunar New Year Festival is being held across multiple cities throughout Indonesia, including Medan, Palembang, Batam, Bogor, Semarang, Solo, Surabaya, Pontianak, Singkawang, Makassar, and Manado.

“This is evidence that Indonesian unity is not merely a slogan. Indonesian unity is reality,” Prabowo stated.

“I hope this Year of the Fire Horse brings blessings, health, peace, and new hope for us all. Gong Xi Fa Cai,” he concluded.
