Prabowo: Delay Building Lots of Offices, Offices, Offices
JAKARTA — Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto has ordered his ministers to delay construction of non-urgent offices, saying the priority is productivity rather than luxurious offices.
‘So, sorry, we are now somewhat delaying the building of many offices, offices, offices. An office is needed, but there should be no office without productivity,’ Prabowo said in a speech at a large-scale prawns’ harvest in Kebumen, Central Java, broadcast live on the Presidential Secretariat’s YouTube channel on Saturday, 23 May 2026.
‘Right? A grand office with no product. It is better for the office not to be so fancy, but for its output to be good. The results should be many,’ he added.
Prabowo instructed the ministers of the Red-and-White Cabinet to implement productive projects and programmes.
’ I am giving instructions to the Cabinet that we can support. What we must support. What we must run are productive projects,’ Prabowo said firmly.
For Prabowo, the standard of a productive project is one that can add value and create employment for the people.
‘What is the productive limit? Creating jobs for our people. Secondly, generating added value. Increasing the wealth of the Indonesian nation. Increasing people’s incomes. That is what productive means,’ he explained.
The Head of State added that in the coming months, the government will also speed up the execution of productive development.
‘Everything productive we will implement,’ he asserted.
