Prabowo: Crisis as a Blessing in Disguise, the Strong Will Survive
President Prabowo Subianto believes that the current situation of global crisis filled with uncertainty can actually become an opportunity for Indonesia to emerge stronger. He even referred to the crisis as a blessing in disguise.
He made this statement whilst delivering remarks at the first-anniversary thanksgiving ceremony of Danantara at Wisma Danantara, South Jakarta, on Wednesday (11 March 2026). Prabowo stated that the various crises occurring in the world today represent a test as well as momentum for every nation to strengthen itself. According to him, crises often generate new opportunities for those capable of enduring them.
“Brothers and sisters, this is increasingly pressing because we see the world is now full of uncertainty. Crises are occurring everywhere. But brothers and sisters, crises always produce opportunities. Crisis is a test. Crisis is a stepping stone,” he said.
Prabowo added that only strong nations are able to overcome such difficult periods, whilst those unprepared will continue to face suffering. Prabowo is confident Indonesia is strong because it possesses considerable assets.
“The strong will survive, the weak will continue to suffer. This is a lesson from history. I am convinced and believe the Indonesian nation has been granted extraordinary natural wealth and we are capable of emerging from this crisis,” he said.
“We will emerge from this crisis even stronger. This crisis, in my view, is a blessing in disguise,” he stated.
Prabowo acknowledged that the crisis situation is indeed filled with challenges and difficulties. However, according to him, such conditions actually force the government to accelerate various strategic agendas that have been planned.
“It is indeed full of difficulties, indeed full of challenges. But it compels us to accelerate our good intentions,” he said.
One area highlighted was the effort to achieve food self-sufficiency. Prabowo is targeting energy self-sufficiency that can be achieved within four years.
“We already have plans for food self-sufficiency, and alhamdulillah some has already been achieved. We already have the intention for energy self-sufficiency and we are confident our plan will be achieved in another four years,” he said.
