Prabowo: Country Grows Richer While Poverty Rises, This Is an Anomaly

President Prabowo Subianto has revealed startling facts regarding the national economy, which has grown by an average of 5 per cent annually over the last seven years. Despite this consistent growth, Prabowo stated that poverty figures have actually increased. Speaking at the closing ceremony of the Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) National Conference and Grand Conference in Bangkalan, East Java, on Tuesday, Prabowo said the numbers might be unpleasant for many parties but must be faced. He noted that seven years of 5 per cent growth logically means a 35 per cent increase in wealth, yet the reality felt like a shock upon taking office. Prabowo described the inverse relationship between national economic data and the people’s economy as an anomaly, questioning how the poor population could increase after seven years of growth. He pointed out that the middle class, which had previously escaped poverty, is now declining. Seeing this inequality, Prabowo concluded there is a fundamental problem with the current economic system, warning that only a handful of people have become richer. He asserted that this system is wrong and does not align with the desires and ideals of the nation’s founders, who wanted an independent Indonesia where the people live in justice and prosperity. Prabowo vowed to fulfil his oath to the people and safeguard their interests.
