Prabowo: Corruption Must Be Eradicated to the Root

President Prabowo Subianto has affirmed his commitment to eradicating corruption to its roots.

Prabowo wants all of the nation’s wealth and assets to be managed properly for the benefit of all Indonesian people.

This was conveyed by Prabowo while attending the launch and groundbreaking of the construction of a 100 GWp Solar Power Plant (PLTS) in Jembrana, Bali, on Tuesday, 25 August 2026.

“The essence of this country’s strength is that all national assets, all national wealth must be managed as well as possible, as honestly as possible, on the basis of patriotism, love of the homeland, love of the people, and a very great sense of responsibility,” said Prabowo.

Prabowo then stressed that the government must fight and eradicate corrupt practices to their roots.

“Therefore, corruption and misappropriation must be fought, must be eradicated to the roots,” he asserted.

On that occasion, Prabowo acknowledged that there are still parties who doubt the government’s seriousness in eradicating corruption.

However, he again assured that the government is genuinely carrying out anti-corruption efforts.

According to Prabowo, eradicating corruption and closing state financial leakages has a direct impact on the government’s ability to handle various problems.

He cited the government’s ability to deploy hundreds of helicopters, dozens of aircraft, heavy equipment, water pumps, and thousands of personnel to deal with various disasters.

“How can we now overcome problems, have hundreds of helicopters, procure heavy equipment if we do not have money? Where does the money come from? The money comes from what we have saved, from the corruption that has been ongoing,” Prabowo explained.

Prabowo said the government has so far been working to stop various state financial leakages. However, he stressed that these efforts are not yet sufficient and must continue to be strengthened.

“So far we have stopped those leakages, but we are not satisfied. We must be even stricter in managing all finances,” said Prabowo.

The launch of the 100 Gigawatt peak (GWp) PLTS at the Java-Bali Sea Crossing Operation Monument in Gilimanuk is part of the National Priority Work Programme for the Energy and Water Independence Cluster, which is directed at strengthening national energy independence and resilience as well as reducing dependence on fossil fuels.
