Prabowo conveys Easter and Cosmonautics Day greetings to the Russian people
Jakarta (ANTARA) - President Prabowo Subianto conveyed Easter and Cosmonautics Day greetings to the Russian people during his meeting with President Vladimir Putin at the Kremlin Palace on Monday.
“I extend my congratulations that Your Excellency and the entire Russian nation have just honoured the important day of Easter. I also know that just a few days ago, on 12 April, it was Cosmonautics Day for Russia, which has a very significant influence in the world,” said Prabowo, quoted from the live broadcast on the Presidential Secretariat’s YouTube channel on Monday.
Prabowo then mentioned the significant influence of Cosmonautics Day, including in Indonesia, as reflected in the use of Russian space figures’ names for children.
“Many Indonesians name their children Gagarin or Yuri,” said Prabowo with a smile.
Meanwhile, Putin assessed Prabowo’s visit as having important significance amid current global developments, particularly in efforts to enhance bilateral cooperation in the economic sector.
Putin also appreciated Prabowo’s Easter greetings, while affirming that Russia is a multi-confessional country that continues to celebrate various major religious holidays together with all religious adherents in the country.
“We are very pleased with the Holy Easter greetings, especially from the Head of State with the largest Muslim population in the world. Our country is a multi-confessional state, and together with our brothers who adhere to other religions, we continue to celebrate all religious holidays,” said Putin.
In the meeting, Prabowo and Putin agreed to enhance cooperation between the two countries, particularly in the fields of economy, energy, space, agriculture, industry, and pharmaceuticals.
Prabowo appreciated the Russian Government’s support for Indonesia, starting from the swift acceptance into BRICS and the rapid increase in cooperation in various fields.
The President stated that almost all agreed sectors between the two countries have experienced rapid progress, although there are several areas that need to be accelerated.
Regarding this, he said he would handle and oversee the issues himself, particularly related to monetary relations between the two parties.
On the same occasion, Putin conveyed the enhancement of economic and trade cooperation, which rose by 12.5 per cent last year.
In particular, Putin highlighted key sectors for cooperation between the two countries, including energy, space, agriculture, industry, and pharmaceuticals. He also highlighted that Indonesia’s membership in BRICS opens new opportunities to develop cooperation between the two countries.
Accompanying Prabowo in the meeting were Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Bahlil Lahadalia, Foreign Minister Sugiono, and Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya.
