Prabowo Convenes Ministers and BI Governor to Discuss Domestic Energy Needs

President Prabowo Subianto convened a number of ministers and the Governor of Bank Indonesia (BI) at the Palace in Jakarta this afternoon.

Observations on Wednesday (16/09/2026) afternoon showed ministers arriving, including Coordinating Minister for Food Zulkifli Hasan, Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Bahlil Lahadalia, Minister of Finance Suahasil Nazara, Minister of Agriculture Andi Amran Sulaiman, Minister of Marine Affairs and Fisheries Sakti Wahyu Trenggono, and BI Governor Destry Damayanti.

Bahlil stated that several ministers and heads of agencies would meet with the President to discuss fulfilling domestic energy requirements.

“Today, we will hold a meeting with the President regarding several steps aimed at meeting our domestic energy needs,” Bahlil said upon his arrival at the Palace.

Bahlil added that plans to develop biodiesel programmes beyond the B35 level would also be discussed during the meeting. He noted that further details would be provided once the meeting concludes.

“After the meeting, I will provide an update. One of the objectives is to carry out development by utilising our existing domestic potential. We will push for levels above B50,” he remarked.
