Prabowo Convenes Meeting with Central Bank Governor and Finance Minister to Address Global Market Volatility
President Prabowo Subianto convened a limited session meeting at the Presidential Palace complex in Jakarta on Tuesday afternoon with several cabinet ministers and senior state officials. Attendees included Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa and Bank Indonesia Governor Perry Warjiyo.
During the meeting, Purbaya stressed the importance of close coordination between the government and Bank Indonesia in maintaining rupiah exchange rate stability amid global market dynamics.
“If we ensure good economic development, adequate money supply in the system, and Bank Indonesia monitors exchange rate conditions accordingly, then close cooperation between the government and Bank Indonesia is necessary to maintain exchange rate stability,” Purbaya said on Tuesday, 10 March 2026.
He further noted that solid coordination between fiscal and monetary authorities would help cushion global market volatility. “If we work together like this, it’s not too difficult to manage global market fluctuations,” he stated.
Officials arrived around 14:00 WIB and immediately entered the palace complex to participate in the meeting with the President. Several officials said they were not yet aware of the detailed agenda for the discussion.
Bappisus Chief Aries Marsudiyanto said he had been called to discuss matters with the President but did not elaborate on specific topics.
“I don’t know what it’s about, I was called, but there must be something. Of course, there must be things we need to discuss with him. But in principle, everything is fine,” Aries told media at the palace complex.
He stated that national food and energy conditions are currently secure and stocks are deemed sufficient. “Food is all available. Energy and fuel—no need to worry. Everything is stocked and adequate,” he said.
Aries also stated that Indonesia’s economic fundamentals remain strong, leaving no reason for concern about the nation’s economic condition.
“There’s no problem; Indonesia’s economic fundamentals are strong. This has already been conveyed to other ministers. I think that’s it,” he said.
The limited session meeting took place behind closed doors amid global economic dynamics and market fluctuations that have drawn government attention. Other officials present included Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Bahlil Lahadalia, Higher Education, Science and Technology Minister Brian Yuliarto, and Coordinating Minister for Food Affairs Zulkifli Hasan.
