Prabowo Contacts Prince MBS, Demands Total Ceasefire in Middle East
President Prabowo Subianto held a high-level telephone conversation with Saudi Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman (MBS) on Thursday, 12 March. During the call, Prabowo delivered a stern warning regarding military escalation in the Middle East, which has intensified due to aggression by the United States and Israel against Iran.
According to an official statement from the Saudi Foreign Ministry via the X account @KSAMOFA, both leaders highlighted a genuine threat to international security and stability if the conflict is not promptly contained.
President Prabowo reaffirmed Indonesia’s position demanding a complete cessation of military operations in the region. He cautioned that continued aggressive actions would trigger a domino effect that would damage the global security order.
“His Highness (Prince MBS) reviewed by telephone with the President of Indonesia developments regarding military escalation in the region and its serious impacts on regional and international security and stability,” the Saudi Foreign Ministry’s official statement read.
Furthermore, the Indonesian President emphasised that without a ceasefire and an end to military provocations, the region’s stability, which has been maintained, would collapse and directly impact global economic and political interests.
Prince MBS and President Prabowo agreed that the current situation is at a critical juncture that poses a danger. Both committed to continuing coordination to protect the interests of the Islamic world and prevent the expansion of military confrontation in the Middle East.
Prabowo’s proactive diplomatic initiative underscores Indonesia’s role in the global geopolitical arena, particularly in responding to tensions involving major powers in the Gulf region and their impact on the sovereignty of Muslim nations.
