Prabowo Considers Recycled Roof Tiles for Home Improvement Programme
President Prabowo Subianto once observed products of roof tiles resulting from waste processing at the Environmentally and Educationally Based Integrated Waste Processing Site (TPST BLE) in Banyumas. He encouraged the promotion of these roof tiles for the roof-tiling programme.
This was stated by Prabowo after inspecting the TPST BLE in Kaliori Village, Banyumas, Central Java, on Tuesday (28/4/2026). Prabowo assessed that the roof tiles from waste processing at TPST Banyumas have potential to be utilised in the government programme.
“The roof tiles are quite effective and the price is reasonably cheap; they could perhaps be included in our budget for home repair assistance,” said Prabowo.
He noted that the roof tiles are sufficiently effective and have a relatively affordable price, making them suitable for consideration in the home repair assistance budget.
“The home repair budget is now Rp 20 million per house, so for one house, we can allocate Rp 4-5 million for the roof tiles,” he continued.
Prabowo also emphasised his desire to reduce the use of corrugated iron roofs that easily rust. He considered such material not only unhealthy for the occupants but also poor in terms of aesthetics.
“We want to eliminate the use of rusty corrugated iron, which ultimately is unhealthy for the inhabitants, and it doesn’t look good. We will restore Indonesia to be truly beautiful, so that tourism is appealing and we feel comfortable living here,” he stated.
