Jakarta (ANTARA) - The President of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto, has stated that Indonesia is currently undergoing the ratification process for the Indonesia-Eurasian Economic Union Free Trade Agreement (I-EAEU FTA) and expressed his appreciation to Belarus for having already ratified it.

“In the field of trade, we appreciate that Belarus has completed the ratification process of the Indonesia-Eurasian Economic Union Free Trade Agreement. We are also currently undergoing that ratification process,” said President Prabowo Subianto during a joint statement with the President of the Republic of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko, at the Merdeka Palace, Jakarta, on Thursday.

Indonesia and the Eurasian nations signed the free trade agreement on 21 December 2025. The EAEU includes Russia, Kazakhstan, Belarus, Armenia, and Kyrgyzstan.

Prabowo noted that amidst current global dynamics, Belarus serves as an important partner for Indonesia within the Eurasian region.

To this end, both nations have agreed to strengthen cooperation across several sectors, including agriculture, trade, and culture.

“This Roadmap reflects a shared commitment to more targeted and concrete cooperation,” said Prabowo.

On the same occasion, Belarusian President Lukashenko stated that the relationship between the two nations has been established for a long time and that Indonesia is one of the key partners for Belarus within the Southeast Asian region.

Lukashenko ensured Belarus’s support for implementing the cooperation framework designed within the roadmap, including collaboration to strengthen modern agriculture and manufacturing.

“The most important achievement reached today is the fulfilment of food security between the two nations, as well as discussions regarding various global affairs,” said Lukashenko.
