Prabowo Confident PDIP Shares Government's Vision for the Nation
President Prabowo Subianto is confident that the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP) will eventually stand together with the government and other political forces to protect the nation and state. “I am sure all parties in the coalition are already heading in this direction and are with me,” Prabowo said during a national address at the 28th anniversary celebration of the National Awakening Party (PKB) in Jakarta on Thursday evening. Prabowo conveyed this belief while explaining the importance of national unity in managing Indonesia’s natural resources so that the benefits can be felt by the people and do not flow abroad. “PDIP’s heart is actually the same as ours; the 1945 Constitution was created by Bung Karno, Bung Hatta, our nation’s founders,” Prabowo said. According to him, all political parties and elements of the nation fundamentally share the same aspirations to realise prosperity for the Indonesian people. He stated that differences of opinion and criticism within political dynamics are normal and can be interpreted as efforts to remind one another for the common good. Prabowo is optimistic that all major political forces in Indonesia will ultimately be able to unite to defend the country’s sovereignty. “And in the end, I believe PDIP will also join us in defending the country and the nation, that is my instinct,” the President said.
