Prabowo Confident Indonesia Safe from El Niño Threat: 'Alhamdulillah, Food is Secure'
President Prabowo Subianto is confident Indonesia can face the El Niño phenomenon, which is said to pose the toughest challenge in 2026. He is optimistic that Indonesia’s food situation is secure amidst the El Niño threat. “In the midst of the world today, which is very worried about mass starvation due to food difficulties and uncertain weather,” Prabowo said during his State Address at the Parliamentary Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Friday, 14 August 2026. “We, Alhamdulillah, I can report to this assembly, regarding food, regarding sustenance for Indonesia, we are in a safe condition,” he continued. The Head of State also stated that Indonesia is capable of facing the challenges, including the El Niño challenge, which is reportedly one of the most powerful this year. “And we will be able to face the challenges, including the El Niño challenge. They say this year’s El Niño is the most powerful,” said Prabowo. “We have achieved this with the courage to face problems,” he concluded.
