President Prabowo Subianto conducted a surprise inspection or sidak at the Bulog Danurejo warehouse in Magelang Regency, Central Java. Prabowo inspected the rice warehouse after delivering guidance to the chairmen of regional people’s representative councils (DPRD) across Indonesia at the Military Academy on Saturday, 18 April 2026.

Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya stated that the inspection aimed to ensure the availability and smooth distribution of national food reserves. According to Teddy, the visit is one of the government’s efforts to maintain rice supply stability in the region.

Teddy said the inspection was Prabowo’s initiative. “The President suddenly asked to see the Bulog warehouse in Magelang or Yogyakarta upon returning from the DPRD leadership event,” he said in a written statement.

During the visit, Prabowo emphasised that in addition to availability, rice quality must also be maintained. “And its distribution must be timely and on target so that the benefits are truly felt by the community,” Teddy quoted.

The inspection, he said, is part of the government’s commitment to ensuring the state is always present in meeting the people’s basic needs. “This is the government’s commitment to strengthening national food resilience,” Teddy said.

According to the Presidential Secretariat, the Bulog Danurejo warehouse consists of two building units with a total capacity of 7,000 tonnes. When Prabowo visited the location, the warehouse was said to be fully stocked. The Cabinet Secretariat stated that the stock in the warehouse is in very good condition to support needs in the City and Regency of Magelang.

Before conducting the surprise inspection at the Bulog warehouse, President Prabowo attended the DPRD retreat event at the Military Academy in Magelang, Central Java, on Saturday, 18 April 2026.

The National Resilience Institute or Lemhanas held the retreat for hundreds of DPRD chairmen from 15 to 19 April 2026. This retreat’s agenda invited 557 DPRD Chairmen from across Indonesia, comprising 38 Provincial DPRD Chairmen, 93 City DPRD Chairmen, and 415 Regency DPRD Chairmen.

Eleven officials from the Association of Regency DPRD Chairmen across Indonesia were also included in this retreat. However, only 479 out of the total 557 DPRD Chairmen were recorded as attending the retreat.

Lemhanas Governor Ace Hasan Syadzily said the purpose of the DPRD Chairmen retreat is to enhance the institution’s capacity in facing national and regional development challenges. “Participants are encouraged to become strategic partners for local governments and agents of change,” Ace said on Wednesday, 15 April 2026.

Retreats are frequently held in the Prabowo Subianto administration era. Previously, retreats were also mandatory for ministers of the Merah Putih Cabinet and regional heads.
