Prabowo Commemorates Nuzulul Quran with Ministers
President Prabowo Subianto commemorated the evening of Nuzulul Quran, marking the revelation of the holy Quran, alongside several ministers and Islamic figures. The commemoration, also attended by approximately 30 orphans from welfare institutions, took place at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta on Tuesday evening, 10 March 2026, corresponding to 21 Ramadan 1447 in the Islamic calendar.
Guests began arriving at the Presidential Palace after the iftar (breaking of the fast) time. “We have been invited to participate in Nuzulul Quran as a national state moment commemorating the revelation of the Quranic revelation during this blessed and guided holy month,” said the Minister Coordinator for Community Empowerment Muhaimin Iskandar upon arriving at the Presidential Palace.
Besides Muhaimin and other ministers, the national Nuzulul Quran commemoration at the Palace was also attended by Islamic religious figures. Notably, preacher Quraish Shihab attended with his wife, Fatmawati Assegaf.
According to Quraish, he was invited to deliver spiritual guidance at the Nuzulul Quran event at the Palace. “I will speak about peace. Let the world be at peace,” said Quraish upon arriving at the event location.
President Prabowo attended the event with Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka. During this evening’s Nuzulul Quran commemoration, Prabowo Subianto also delivered remarks.
Prabowo and Gibran entered the State Palace, the location of the Nuzulul Quran event, simultaneously. Both were accompanied by the Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi, the Minister of Religious Affairs Nasaruddin Umar, and the Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya.
Several other ministers attended the evening’s commemoration of the revelation of the Quran, including the Minister Coordinator for Infrastructure Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono; the Minister Coordinator for Law, Human Rights, Immigration, and Corrections Yusril Ihza Mahendra; and the Minister of Village and Disadvantaged Regional Development Yandri Susanto.
The event was also attended by prominent legislative leaders, including the Speaker of the House of Representatives Puan Maharani, the Chair of the People’s Consultative Assembly Ahmad Muzani, and the Chair of the Regional Representative Council Sultan Bachtiar Najamuddin. In addition, representatives from Islamic organisations including the Indonesian Council of Ulemas, Nahdlatul Ulama, and Persatuan Islam (Persis) were present.
Nuzulul Quran, typically commemorated on the 17th of Ramadan, marks the historic moment of the first revelation of the Quran to the Prophet Muhammad. According to Islamic teaching, the holy Quran was revealed as guidance and a distinguisher between truth and falsehood for mankind.
