Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - President Prabowo Subianto attended the peak commemoration of International Labour Day at Monas, Central Jakarta, on Friday (1/5/2026). Also present were, among others, Chairman of the People’s Consultative Assembly Ahmad Muzani, Deputy Chairman of the House of Representatives Sufmi Dasco, ministers from the Red and White Cabinet, leaders of labour union organisations, and thousands of workers who attended from various regions across the country.

Beginning his speech, Prabowo invited all event participants to give thanks to the Almighty God for granting health so that they could gather to celebrate International Labour Day.

“Today is the day of struggle for the working class. I express my thanks for the invitation to attend today together with all of you brothers and sisters. This is an honour for me. Thank you,” said Prabowo.

On that occasion, Prabowo felt that workers have always supported him. The General Chairman of the Greater Indonesia Movement Party also felt that he could become president because of the support from workers, farmers, fishermen, and workers throughout Indonesia.

“And I am determined, I swear to fight for the interests of all the Indonesian people and especially those whose lives are still difficult,” stated Prabowo.

“That is my duty, that is the duty of the government that I lead, that is our determination. We will not falter, we will not give up, we will not hesitate to defend the interests of the Indonesian people,” he continued.
