Prabowo Claims to Listen to Public Proposals via TikTok
President Prabowo Subianto has claimed he listens to proposals from the public submitted via social media. As an example, he asserted that the government has followed up on input received through TikTok. Prabowo made the remarks during a speech at the closing of the Science, Technology, and Industry Convention at the Jakarta Convention Center on Sunday, 28 June 2026. The event was attended by thousands of academics, including rectors, deans, and professors. During his speech, the Gerindra Party chairman said he had received a list of suggestions collected by academics. ‘I have received a list of proposals and questions that were submitted, quite a lot of them. I promise I will pay attention to each one,’ he said. Prabowo stated he would listen to proposals from anyone, including those submitted via social media. ‘Let alone proposals from professors, suggestions from a child in a village that reach me directly via TikTok, I will immediately follow up,’ he said. The former Defence Minister expressed gratitude that technological developments have enabled the president to quickly learn about the people’s problems. Difficulties in a village, he said, can reach the top of government and be resolved promptly. Prabowo cited an issue he heard about in a village in Nias Regency, North Sumatra. ‘A difficulty in a village in Nias, it reached us directly and we resolved it quickly,’ he said, though he did not recount the event in detail. The Science, Technology, and Industry Convention (KSTI) attended by Prabowo took place from Friday to Sunday, 26-28 June 2026. The President attended the opening and closing of the event, which invited 2,600 academics, including professors, deans, and rectors. On Friday, during the opening of KSTI 2026, Prabowo delivered a nearly five-hour lecture to the academics. On Sunday, he again spoke for almost four hours before the attending lecturers. The forum, titled ‘National Symposium’, which Prabowo attended, is part of the Indonesian Science, Technology, and Industry Convention. The event was organised by the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology. KSTI is an initiative of President Prabowo, first held at the Bandung Institute of Technology in August 2025.
