Prabowo Claims PDIP's Heart Is with the Government, Citing Shared Ideals
President Prabowo Subianto believes the core sentiments of politicians from the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP) align with the spirit and thinking he brings to his administration. “PDIP’s heart is actually the same as ours. Try checking. Dig into their hearts. It is actually the same. This is the 1945 Constitution created by Bung Karno, Bung Hatta, and the founders of our nation. Their hearts are the same,” Prabowo said during a speech at the 28th PKB Anniversary event in Jakarta on Thursday evening. He stated that this common ground is embodied in the ideas born from President Soekarno, Mohammad Hatta, and other founding figures. The only difference now, he noted, is that the party has not yet formally sided with the government. “They just haven’t made a recommendation like the Ijtima Ulama. Not yet. But we have no problem. Criticism saves,” Prabowo said. “There is no problem. If we are right, if we are on the right path, we will continue to be strong,” he continued. PDIP has chosen not to join the coalition and remains outside the government circle. The party has previously stated it would act as a balancing force to the Prabowo administration.
