Prabowo Claims Indonesia's Position is Secure Because It Has No Enemies
President Prabowo Subianto has stated that Indonesia is currently in a relatively comfortable position amid global geopolitical dynamics. One reason for this, according to him, is that Indonesia has managed to maintain good relations with many parties, thus having no enemies.
Prabowo made this statement while addressing investors at the Japan-Indonesia Business Forum in Tokyo, Japan, on Monday (30/3/2026).
“Indonesia is in a comfortable position because it has no enemies. Many people might not consider this important,” said Prabowo.
“But the current global geopolitical situation proves that countries which maintain good relations with all their neighbours—not just surrounding countries but also with major world powers—are actually implementing rational and wise policies in this increasingly shrinking world,” Prabowo added.
On that occasion, Prabowo also noted that the global community is currently in an environment full of risks and uncertainties. In such conditions, he said, maintaining rational economic relations is extremely important.
“Our philosophy is that 1,000 friends are still too few, one enemy is already too many,” he stressed.
