President Prabowo Subianto claims he will control the waste problem before the end of his first term. The General Chairman of the Gerindra Party promises to resolve this issue within two to three years.

Prabowo emphasised that waste management has now become one of the national priorities. “We are developing everything, waste processing is now a national priority. In two to three years, we must control waste across all of Indonesia,” he said during a visit to the Environment and Education-Based Integrated Waste Processing Site (TPST BLE) in Banyumas Regency, Central Java, on Tuesday, 28 April 2026.

On that occasion, Prabowo expressed appreciation to the Banyumas Regency Government for the breakthrough in integrated waste management, from household to regency level. Prabowo stated that the same scheme could serve as an example for other regions.

Prabowo said he was impressed with the waste distribution and processing flow in Banyumas. The regency also produces plastic pellets, paving blocks, and roof tiles from processed plastic waste at TPST BLE Banyumas.

Prabowo described the processing technology in Banyumas as not overly sophisticated but effective. “We carry out what is termed waste processing using technology that is not too sophisticated but effective, mostly using local products, and within an integrated system from household to regency level,” he stated.

According to Prabowo, the system is quite effective and has the potential to become a model for various regions in Indonesia, even attracting attention from other countries. “So I think this is very effective as an example for many provinces, many regencies, even other countries have come here,” said the retired general.

The President also promised direct support from the central government to strengthen and expand the waste processing system in Banyumas. He claimed to support the Banyumas Regency Government’s target of achieving zero waste by 2028.
