Prabowo Claims He Can Trace Corrupt Officials' Assets Hidden Underground
Jakarta – President Prabowo Subianto has warned that he will track the hidden assets of corrupt officials using technology. He believes the technology is capable of detecting bunkers containing wealth buried underground. He began by urging that regional government leaders should not escape monitoring by the central government. “Let us together clean up our entire apparatus. Do not think that just because you are a Regent or Governor we cannot monitor from here,” Prabowo said during the 19th Plenary Session of the Indonesian Parliament, on Wednesday (20 May 2026).
According to him, technology is now advanced enough for corruption to be detected quickly. Prabowo said bunkers stuffed with wealth hidden away will surely be found. “Now there is technology, yes, there is radar we can use; we can look underground. So, brothers and sisters who own hidden bunkers, we will find your wealth too, my friends,” he asserted.
“I will use the most advanced technology. Defence technology can search for weapons storages underground,” he added.
Prabowo also referred to owners of large illegal plantations, which, he said, can now be traced without on-site checks. He said surveillance can be carried out through satellite technology. “Don’t take technology lightly. Right? Those who own large plantations think there will be no officials who can check; now there are satellites. There is no need for physical checks — we can photograph each tree,” Prabowo said.
“We can photograph tree by tree. So if you intend to cheat, we will still uncover your fraud, fellow citizens,” he concluded.
