President RI Prabowo Subianto has stated he received reports indicating that the welfare of farmers is currently on the rise. One indicator, he noted, is the increasing number of farmers who are able to take holidays abroad. This was conveyed by Prabowo during the peak celebration of the 79th National Cooperatives Day (Harkopnas) at the Indonesia Arena, Senayan, on Sunday, 12 July 2026. “I have received reports that many farmers are now holidaying abroad. That is fine, they deserve a holiday, when else could farmers go abroad?” Prabowo said. Prabowo emphasised that the government continues to strive to realise prosperity for farmers, fishermen, and labourers. According to him, the national economic revival is expected to start from villages, sub-districts, and regencies so that the circulation of money can remain within the regions. The government, he said, is trying to reverse the previous condition where the people’s wealth was being drained away, by encouraging the benefits of economic growth to be felt more directly by the community. “We will make farmers, fishermen, and labourers prosperous. Our economy will rise from the villages, sub-districts, and regencies, and the money will stay in the villages, sub-districts, and regencies. We will reverse it. If previously the wealth of the Indonesian people was drained away, now the economy will trickle down to the people,” he asserted. On the occasion, Prabowo also stressed that the government is not anti-large corporations. As a large nation, Indonesia requires the role of all economic forces, from cooperatives, micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), the private sector, state-owned enterprises (BUMN), to regionally-owned enterprises (BUMD). The Head of State said all these elements must be strengthened together as part of the Indonesia Incorporated concept, which is expected to bolster the national economy. “That is what I mean by Indonesia Incorporated, what the founding fathers of our nation desired, that cooperatives are one of the pillars,” he said. Prabowo expressed optimism that the cooperative movement would rise to become a national economic force capable of supporting Indonesia’s emergence as a wealthy and economically strong country. “If we strengthen cooperatives, it does not mean we will weaken the others, no, we strengthen everything. Ladies and gentlemen, Indonesia is rich, Indonesia will rise, and Indonesia will be able to strengthen all forces in this Republic of Indonesia,” he said.
